With over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, I spent the last 12 years as Director of Sales & Marketing across a number of Irish hotels – working in both 4 and 5 star hotels, gaining experience with both international brands also independently Irish owned hotels.
But where did it all start?
“I know what I want to do when I grow up – I want to work in a hotel!”
This was me at the age of 7, sitting in the Lobby of the old Royal Dublin Hotel on O’Connell Street. I was watching the comings and goings of the hotel on a busy Saturday afternoon, and I wanted to be a part of it! A number of years later, the late great Michael Governey very kindly allowed me to do some work experience in the wonderful Conrad Dublin hotel, and that was it – my fate was sealed! I loved every minute of it and couldn’t wait to learn everything there was to know!
Education & Experience – both great teachers!
I graduated from Cathal Brugha St more than 20 years ago, and have worked across a number of Irish hotels over those years. Starting out in O’Callaghan Hotels with my first sales job, followed by a MICE Manager role back in the Conrad where it had all started. Then I spent 12 years with Tifco Hotels, really learning all there was to learn about the world of sales and marketing, working across a number of the hotels such as Clontarf Castle and the 3 Crowne Plaza Hotels in Northwood, Dundalk and Blanchardstown. 8 years in the Crowne Plaza Blanchardstown during and post the 2008 recession was a huge learning curve and it was there I built my strongest corporate relationships with both the tech and pharma giants in the area. It was great to have then been able to bring this experience to MHL Hotels to close and then re-open The Morgan Hotel in all its new grandeur. And my most recent role brought all of this together working as Group Director of Sales & Marketing for Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa and the Dylan Hotel.
Developing Expertise through a variety of projects
Dylan & Dunboyne Castle Hotels, MHL Hotels, Tifco Hotels (Crowne Plaza and Clontarf Castle), Conrad Dublin and O’Callaghan Hotels, all allowed me great opportunities to learn and develop. It was great to have then been able to bring this experience to MHL Hotels to close and then re-open The Morgan Hotel in all its new grandeur. Prior to the Covid pandemic, I had brought all of this experience together to take on the role of Group Director of Sales & Marketing for Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa and the Dylan Hotel.
